Ventilation and Condensation – Why is it important?

Condensation and mould are common problems in most homes at this time of year.  Cooking, cleaning, and bathing can generate up to 10 litres of moisture per day, drying washing indoors can add an additional 2.5 litres to this!

Over time damage can be caused to not just your property, but also to your health.

So, what’s the solution?

DCMD Electrics can offer a range of ventilation solutions which remove the root cause of condensation and mould within the home.

In-Line fan

An In-Line fan offers a powerful, discreet solution to ventilating high moisture areas such as bathrooms.  The fan is mounted inside or connected to ducting that is used for extraction purposes.  It does not sit directly on the plasterboard or ceiling, instead it is typically located inside the loft above the bathroom.

These fans offer almost two and a half times the pressure development of conventional axial fans making them an ideal solution.

Positive Input Ventilation (PIV)

Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) is a whole house ventilation system that improves air quality in all rooms and is highly effective at minimising condensation in your home.

A PIV pushes out and replaces stale unhealthy air with drier fresh air by gently introducing filtered air into the home, increasing the circulation around the property, and improving the indoor air quality (IAQ).

PIV systems use a central unit which is usually mounted in the  loft or on a wall, we can offer a range of solutions whether you live in a house or a flat.
